Coronation Meadows in Herefordshire and a Royal Visitor at Ross on Wye

On 5th November Herefordshire Meadows had a display at Ross Market House during the visit of HRH The Prince of Wales to launch the Gilpin 2020 Festival.

We were invited by Ross Town Council and the Wye Valley AONB as they have worked together to create an area of floodplain meadow beside the River Wye as part of the Meadow Making pilot.

Sue Holland, James Hawkins and Caroline Hanks were introduced to Prince Charles who asked questions about the map of our meadow making project and the Coronation Meadows created this summer as well as the seed harvesting service and meadow restoration. Children from Ashmead Park school explained how they broadcast the seed at Riverside and what it feels like to be in a meadow in full flower.

It was a wonderful event and great opportunity for us to showcase the work that is being done locally. We are very grateful for the support of all Herefordshire Meadows members and our funders including Natural England, The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund, Plantlife and the Woolhope Dome Environment Fund.
