Herefordshire Meadows included in blueprint for making meadows for DEFRAs ELMs Testing and Trials

Herefordshire Meadows members have a chance to feedback their collective Meadow Making experience to DEFRA who are currently developing a new agri-environment scheme known as Environmental Land Management (ELMs).

Plantlife are heading up this DEFRA Testing and Trial work that will start this winter and run into 2020.  The aim of the proposed Test is to outline a model to enhance and restore networks of flower-rich habitats, led by farmers and land managers, in support of pollinating insects and other wildlife across England’s farm landscapes.  The proposal will set out to test and better understand the practical mechanisms and resources, and how these can be effectively deployed on the ground, through the new ELMs and other funding mechanisms.

If you have experience of enhancing and restoring flower rich grassland and want to be part of this Test in Herefordshire please contact Caroline Hanks before 20 November 2019.  Everyone who is already part of the Meadow Making 2019 pilot is automatically included in the DEFRA Test if they wish.
