Nectar and pollen rich wildflower meadows are a fantastic habitat for invertebrates and the complex communities they support. However less than 5% of traditional hay meadows present in 1940s remain.

Management of meadows such as cutting them late in the season allows them to set seed whilst removing the cuttings reduces the soils nutrient content and increasing the quantity of wildflowers.
