Flower Rich Grassland Management & Restoration Advice Service for Land Managers in the Wye Valley AONB

Herefordshire Meadows is excited to be involved in a new Wye Valley AONB project to provide support to grassland farmers and land managers in the Herefordshire portion of the Wye Valley AONB.

This work is funded by the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) Programme, which is being administered by the Wye Valley AONB on behalf of DEFRA, as part of the Agricultural Transition Plan.

The programme runs until March 2024 and offers advice and support to farmers and land managers wishing to carry out projects that enable nature recovery, mitigate the impacts of climate change, or provide opportunities for people to discover and enjoy the landscape and its heritage.

As part of this project Herefordshire Meadows will visit sites to carry out assessments of grassland health, including looking at plant diversity and soil health indices including physical, biological and chemical analysis. We will also provide landowners with tailored management and restoration advice, including support accessing capital grants for works where applicable.
