Open Garden Event at Eardisley Castle followed by Choral Evensong in Eardisley Church

A chance to visit some recently restored wildflower meadows and support a local charity

From 14:00 until 17:30

Meadow Restoration at Castle House was part of the Pollinator Meadows Project funded by The Duke of Cornwall's Benevolent Fund through Plantlife and Herefordshire Meadows.

Blair Priday, host, summarised the project saying "We started making Castle meadow in September 2020 with a great deal of invaluable support from Herefordshire Meadows and Plantlife.  This was Herefordshire Meadows' first experience of making a meadow on a Scheduled Monument and required consent from Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport through Historic England. One of the stipulations of the agreement was to only lightly harrow the ground surface before seeding.

The seed we distributed by hand came from donor meadows in Walterstone and Dulas.

We are opening our meadow on 18th June as part of a fund raising event for Hereford Choral Society. Please come and visit and have a cup of tea in the garden."
